Director of Policy and Advocacy

NASW-Michigan is seeking candidates for our Director of Policy and Advocacy.

Under the strategic direction of the Chapter Executive Director, the Director of Policy & Advocacy will direct the government and policy advocacy efforts of NASW-Michigan and serve as the association’s staff lobbyist. The Director of Policy & Advocacy works with Chapter members, committees, social work leadership, government officials, and allied organizations to develop and implement a proactive policy agenda and strategy to enhance the standing of professional social workers in the state of Michigan.

The Director of Policy & Advocacy works closely with the Chapter Executive Director and other staff to ensure the success of the overall Chapter mission and strategic goals.

This is a full-time position that requires the candidate to have flexibility with work schedule, with some commitments in the evening and weekend hours, though normal business hours for the office are Monday through Friday from 9:00am – 5:00. The position can be primarily remote, with periodic travel throughout the state (including 1-2 times a month needing to be in Lansing for staff or legislative business).
